About Cassie

“I feel closest to myself when I spend time in nature. Tall mountains have a way of making us feel small in the most remarkable way. They reveal that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves; while simultaneously reminding us how connected we are to everything around us.

Painting is my way of appreciating nature, to capture what cannot be held. Fleeting moments of beauty reveal themselves when we choose to be present; the shifting colours of a sunset, a hummingbird hovering in stillness, a bear foraging in the morning dew. Through my work, I hope to share not only the landscapes themselves, but the experience of wonder they bring.”

Cassie Dickinson Portrait

Cass has been creating art for as long as she can remember. From childhood, she explored many mediums — painting portraits, experimenting with abstract forms, and working primarily with acrylics. After graduating from Queen’s University, where she studied health with the intention of pursuing a career in occupational therapy, she found herself feeling uncertain about her path. It was during this time she rediscovered her love of painting, and felt she was meant to do something more with it.

Her artistic journey shifted profoundly after moving from her home in Ontario to British Columbia, where she discovered an undeniable connection to the mountains; and with it, a new focus for her work. Drawn to Whistler by the beauty of its landscapes, Cass found herself captivated by the endless inspiration around her. Today, she works primarily in oils, using her paintbrush to reflect the incredible landscapes she sees every day. Whether hiking, biking, skiing, camping, or simply sitting by a river, she gathers her ideas directly from the natural world. Since settling in Whistler in 2022, she has been devoted to creating landscape paintings that celebrate the mountains and valleys that captured her heart.

Cass has been the in-house artist at Four Seasons Resort Whistler since 2023, where she offers a range of painting experiences for both children and adults. She has introduced unique programming to the hotel, including “Hike and Paint” classes that guide guests to serene lakeside or riverside locations for plein air painting sessions. Cass also offers private, customized painting lessons, cherishing the opportunity to connect with guests from around the world and share her love of creativity with them.

Beyond her work at the Four Seasons, Cass has been hosting Paint & Sip classes at The Point Artist-Run Centre since 2023—the place where she first began teaching painting. These sessions have deepened her connection to the local arts community and strengthened her belief in the power of creativity to bring people together. Through teaching, Cass continues to grow as an artist and educator, finding inspiration in the shared joy and curiosity of those she guides.
